YORUBA METAPHYSICS (1)

Image
The Yoruba Traditional Religion is laden with many mysteries and occurrences that has Spiritual interpretations. The Yoruba metaphysics stems from the wonder and awe our ancestors had when they saw the raw manifestations of nature. They began asking questions and conceiving beliefs that these raw display of nature was the handiwork of many Supreme Beings and deities, they believed there was one greater than them all (OLODUMARE) who controlled all the other Deities.  Olodumare is the Owner of the Source of Life that does not become empty. Olodumare has no gender, Olodumare is the Supreme Force which cannot be defined by man's limited understanding. Olodumare sowed the seed of life from the beginning and sent gods and Orishas on missions to create the Earth and other planets. In the wisdom of Ifa, there are 256 Odu verses which are all coded secrets about the world, universe, wisdom, knowledge and solutions to myriads of problems. Egbé Òrun

Image
Communicating with your Egbé  The word Egbé in Yorùbá means Group/society/community and just as there are communities on Earth, there are also, according to the Yorùbá tradition, communities in Òrun (the celestial level/realm). These communities in the Òrun are a fraternity of spiritual friends and family, being one of the most powerful celestial fraternities, consisting of father, mother, friend, husband/wife who are the liaison with Egbé Òrun. Egbé Òrun is a complex, difficult and even mysterious subject, with so many questions that seem to have no answers. According to the Yorùbá tradition everyone has their Egbé Òrun, no matter the colour, nationality or religion. Egbé Òrun is part of each person's daily life. There are people that the relationship with your Egbé Òrun is very intense and others not. Egbé Òrun is not òrìsà and is also not related to the Ori nor to the fate of each individual. Although all of us belong to Egbé Òrun, not all problems are related to Egbé, an...

ESU IS NOT SATAN

Image
In the original Yoruba pantheon, Esu was never regarded as the Biblical/Christian Satan. Esu was known to be a divine messenger and King of the crossroads. Esu became Satan as a result of poor translation, inadequate understanding of the Yoruba traditional faith and the roles of each Orisha. Contrary to biblical beliefs, Esu was a good spirit which was sent by Olodumare to guide man in his decision making and offer help whenever we are stuck in a junction of indecision and confusion.  Colonialism and years of brainwashing of  Africans led to the demonization of our indigenous religions and faiths, whilst the imported religions into Africa were termed as good and deserving of worship. In the Yoruba/African Pantheon, there was never room for a Villain who was the enemy of God. The Bible described God as both the creator of good and evil. Thus, we might be drawn to a conclusion that God is the Satan. It sounds absurd and contradictory that the same God that preaches forgive...
